It's FALL yay!

WOW, I've been on a Fall rampage lately, lol. I started off with a pumpkin and went from there. I'm working on a line of Fall decor, slowly but surely, and I'm starting small. Here's what I started with. A natural textures pumpkin display using raffia, straw, wicker, etc. L$40

Then, I modded one of my favorite baskets into a tub kinda shape, shrunk the pumpkins and shoved em in there. There's 3 different color choices. The wicker on these is a goldish color, very festive for Autumn!

Above and beyond that, I wanted to add some new wall clocks to the shop. All mine (except for the grandfather clock) are square. I needed round ones! So by God, I made some round ones, lol. I also had a moment of panic when I awoke the Sunday morning of the time change, wondering if everyone that had bought clocks would be begging me to change the time for them. Thank goodness I logged in and saw that they actually automatically change to reflect SL time. Yay! *sigh of relief* Here's the two new ones, though.

Baskets & Clocks!

Ever since I found scripts to make real working clocks in SL, I've been enchanted with clock making. Up until now I've only made 4 wall clocks, but the other day I thought, "Why not make a grandfather clock?" I grabbed one of my favorite wood texture sets and started to work inworld and in photoshop. The "end" result wasn't what I'd call good at all. It was really really boxy and bland if you ask me. Therefore, I ended up putting a decorative piece on top and doing some shading of the woods, et voila! I love the final end result, lol. As with all my clocks, this one actually works and tells you any time of day what time it is in Second Life. Here's a picture and link.

Another thing I've been playing around with lately is all things yarn! Yes, I'm a real life knitter/crocheter and have been since the age of 4. This is what spawned my *ZOE* Yarns line of yarn and knitting needles. Beyond that though, I'd been looking for a nice basket with some knitted or crocheted blankets to put by my fireplace at home .... with no luck. I did find a couple of things, but they were either way overpriced or bad quality, or both. This was one of those things that I decided I could make better myself. SO, using some textures I made myself and some I bought full perm, I cranked out a few and stuck them in my shop. Here's a couple of them.

NEW Hot outta the workshop! Floor lamps!

Okay guys, here's a couple of new lamps I made just yesterday. They're not exactly how I'd pictured them in my head as I started building, but sort of morphed on their own into what you see here. I've realized that happens, you know. You start a project with a particular idea, but then it takes on a life of it's own. It talks to you a bit (don't you dare say I'm crazy xD) and tells you what it wants to be. In this case, it actually came out looking a bit like a cactus, lol. I'm not sure why, but it works. I do have them for sale in the shop for 60L and have listed them on Xstreet at the same price. They come with 3-way lighting (off, low, medium, high) and are 11 prims each.

Personally, I like the blue one best, but that's just me. You'd think as much as I like blue, the store would be blue and not all red, but there you go. The work in progress prerogative, I call it. Again, you start a project and it takes on a life of it's own. Therefore, my store is red mostly, but I still love it.

A couple months ago, I opened a new business in Second Life. Actually, that's not quite accurate. I've been putting things on Xstreet little by little for a while now. Initially, I tentatively called it Zanne's Home Decor, Furnishings, & Interiors. That's a mouthful, yes? Then it became Zanne's Home Decor, but when I started making bits of jewelry as well, even THAT name didn't fit. So, I changed it to Zanne's Odds & Ends and started a group on Second Life by that name. One day, I was thinking about shortening it even more. That's when I came up with Z.O.E. That turned into *ZOE* Decor, the name we have today. After much needling by friends, I finally opened a store on SL and am very happy with it. :D

I try to build anything I can just to save money or out of a sense of challenge. I work with my strengths, but sometimes shy away from doing anything to test my weaknesses. I do try and do my best, and if I make something that isn't up to my own personal high standards, I just don't put it up for sale, lol.

Anyway, hopefully, my future blogs won't be as dry as this bit of intro info. In the future I aim to write about any store updates and sales and such (of course), but also the trials and joys, frustration and happiness that comes with any artisic endeavor. So, welcome to my SL. Enjoy the ride, come spend your Lindens haha, and feel free to send me any suggestions or requests you may have.
